After extensive AI, embryo transfer, and
natural service uses in our program since spring of 2002 we
sold our possession of John Wayne in our 2006 Female Sale
for a modern era record of $70,000 to Third Day Ranch in
Navasota, Texas. He has proven himself so may times over and
is the definite powerhouse bull in the breed with incredible
sons and excellent daughters. We have always considered him
to have limitless in breeding value indicated by his
national breed ranking against all proven sires as the #6
ranked bull for weaning weight and yearling weight, # 7 for
scrotal, #20 for ribeye, and #17 for marbling value. He
sires long sided, easy moving offspring with an extra classy
look and always big tops and wide hip designs.

Co-owned with Miller Brangus and 4C Brangus.
He is the bull we use to “Put the Brangus
Back in Brangus!” After posting a 1314 lb. yearling weight
with a 15.2 in. ribeye and 3.8% IMF value New Direction
proved to be the sale topper in our 2003 Bull Sale at
$33,000. As of this writing there are nearly 300 New
Direction offspring recorded collectively earning him
multiple trait leader status ranking #8 for weaning weight,
#3 for yearling weight, and #12 for ribeye area EPDs. It is
also apparent that New Direction will become a scrotal trait
leader and currently ranks in the breed’s top third for milk
and top 3% for total maternal value. We also are strongly
convinced New Direction will climb for marbling value with
more IMF comparisons. His first three sons to sell are now
in registered herds and his first group of daughters has
already produced several donor females.

Ideally designed for today’s cattle
business with an abundance of rib, bone, body length and
overall three dimensional look. We thought he was the best
bull sold in the breed in 2006 and was the high selling
yearling across the entire breed when he brought $45,000 in
our 2006 Bull Sale from Miller Brangus and Blackwater Cattle
Company. With his mass and volume 541R3 is still attractive
and appealing to those that like an elegant look. His sire
needs no introduction as the $70,000 breed great John Wayne.
His dam, MB Ms Freight Liner 541K, was the second high
selling cow in the 2004 Mound Creek and Friends Female Sale
and now an important donor back in the Miller program. 541K
has always produced at the highest level and has to rank as
one of the true can’t miss cows in the breed with an earned
milk value of +29 lbs. Real Deal ranks in the top 2% for WW,
YW and SC; top one-third for pure Milk, top 3% for total
maternal, top 15% for REA and upper 15% for IMF. All the
numbers work, he has no holes, is the right one for today’s
business, and is backed by great parents.

He was the first New Direction son to sell
and certainly stirred excitement around the sale ring with a
final bid of $39,000 from Red Bird Meadows Ranch in
Montgomery, Texas. This final bid earned him the distinction
as the second high selling yearling bull in the entire breed
in 2006. Take a close look at his numbers and you will find
an impressive combination of superior birth weight spreading
to weaning and yearling weights in the upper 20% of the
breed population, while offering milk, maternal value and
carcass merit all in the same genetic package. Like his sire
we use him to add breed character back in the herd, with the
anticipation of superior calving ease and balanced traits.
His dam is now in the Blackwater donor program and earned
that right with outstanding production highlighted by Right
Direction and a full sister that was the best raised at
Blackwater in 2006.

Of all the bulls sold in 2004 across the
entire breed we felt Tank was the best. He is proving us to
be right. Tank is doing a great job in controlling frame and
his offspring are eye candy with thickness, superior
marbling, impressive thickness and overall soundness of
structure. His dam is the great Summit Cow and donor, MC Ms
News Man 165K, the cow that just happened to be the first
News Man daughter ever sold when she brought $10,000 as a
six month old heifer in our 2001 Female Sale. Tank is also a
maternal brother to MC Sonny Side 165M, the herd sire doing
such a great job at San Jac River Ranch. Our Tank offspring
are impressive! In fact we selected two of his sons to go
into early semen collection this spring as yearling bulls
fresh off gain test. The word will spread about the Tank
offspring, particularly after seeing the great sons and
daughters that he is siring around the country. We have used
him on heifers but our recommendation is for use on mature
cows.

We sold our first New Direction sons in the
fall of 2006 and they created impressive excitement and
demand from both registered seedstock Brangus breeders and
commercial cow/calf programs alike. After evaluating these
New Direction sons we feel you will understand the
excitement we have for the long term outlook of our New
Direction offspring and these exciting junior sire sons we
are now using. This bull’s Lead Gun sired dam calved him at
23 months of age, bred back for another fall calf, and is
now in embryo transfer. We named him Straight Line because
the quickest way to get from point A to point B is a
“straight line.” We believe by using this good junior sire
we can get to the needs of the cow/calf operator by way of
the fastest route. Everyone loved his mass, volume,
substance of bone, and breed character. In fact he might be
the son that most closely resembles his impressive sire, New
Direction.

Co-owned with Miller Brangus and 4C
Brangus.
The calving ease John Wayne son we feel
will contribute in the areas of birth weight, maternal
value, testicle size, and IMF value. His first calves
averaged 4.2% for IMF, 36.7 cm. for SC, and 80 lbs. for
birth weight. He was the high selling yearling in our 2004
Bull Sale at $19,500 and his full brother then sold in our
2006 Bull Sale for $25,000 to OK Farm and Page Farm. Their
dam is a constant in the Miller Brangus donor program and
has proven to work exceptionally well across all sire lines.
The best flush of embryo transfer calves born in the spring
of 2007 at Mound Creek are sired by 661N13 and out of a New
Direction donor dam. This exciting junior herd sire is
putting plenty of flash on his offspring along with
substance of bone, Brangus character, and a neat hip design.
We have used him successfully on heifers and mature cows.

We have used News Man every breeding season
beginning with the fall 1999 campaign due to his great
consistency, highly marketable sons, and impressive
daughters. In fact we increased the use of News Man in the
fall of 2006 and spring of 2007 because his daughters are
just flat making outstanding cows. They work with just about
any sire line we throw their way and are some of the
soundest uddered, most complete females we have ever raised.
The News Man daughters hold together well while doing a nice
job on their calves. His immortal sire is a Summit Sire and
News Man is well on his to earning that same distinction. If
you like attractive cattle that are not overly extreme for
any given area then News Man will completely satisfy your
needs. We use him across all breeding classes with a high
level of confidence.
